I am a cradle Catholic born in Poughkeepsie, New York. I attended Saint Mary’s School until our move west, my mother’s native home, to start my 8th grade school year. I am a graduate of El Cajon Valley High School, home of the Braves.
My mother was one of 9, and I am the middle child of 7. Needless to say, family is everything and I have lots. I was number “42” by birth order out of the 51 grandchildren on my mother’s side. On top of that, my grandmother was so close to her sister that my mom’s cousins were like her siblings. The result is I had 8 more Aunts and Uncles with their spouses and a slew more cousins. We’re separated by our grandparents' married names: Dawson’s and Jackson’s. I am a Dawson, so my cousin number is D42. Just check my license plate out!
I have added two wonderful sons to the family. Both are married, and both have given me three precious grandchildren. They all live with an El Cajon address.
I have been a part of The Church of St. Luke Community since 2013 and have got involved whenever I saw an opportunity that was fit for me. When I was asked if I would be interested in joining the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program, I gave a hesitant YES! And I’m so glad I did, as it has been the most fulfilling endeavor I have ever taken on. I was blessed with the opportunity to be trained, and I love working with the children.
This led to being here today on staff as a Coordinator of the PreK-5th Faith Formation Program. I am your person if you need to discuss Sacramental Preparation for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. I am also facilitating the ministries of Children’s Liturgy, Emmaus, and our Vacation Bible School. Of course, I am always looking for volunteers. So please let me know if you are interested in the rewarding ministry of helping our children grow in their faith… Yours will grow even greater!
I am happy to have joined the staff of The Church of St. Luke and I welcome all inquiries.
May the Peace of Christ be always with you.
