Dear STL Families,
Happy Summer! I'm excited to report that service on the Parish Pastoral Council has caught the interest of many of you. To date, I have received twelve council nominations. I choose to believe it's a good sign as Christ appointed, if you will, twelve apostles to follow Him. I also choose to believe it's a good sign because today happens to be Wednesday of the Fourteenth Week in Ordinary Time with the gospel reading on the Authority of the Twelve. This gospel is calling us to reflect on the authority of the twelve that God has given his priesthood and for us to be thankful for them. I'm reminded that by Baptism you and I share in the priesthood of Christ, in his prophetic and royal mission. Remember that apostle means one who is sent by God; God's instrument in the world.
As we have removed the PPC nomination cards and box from the church, I will now initiate the selection process by reaching out to the nominees. Hopefully, they are excited to know people have faith in their leadership and recognize they have special gifts to share. So stay tuned; I'll keep you updated.
