Dear STL Family,

We are coming to the close of our Church Year in a few weeks. The end of our Church year reminds us that we too have an end to our life here on earth. How we live out the virtues of faith, hope, and love for God will determine how we are greeted at the gates of heaven. In what way are you using your talents to serve God’s people on earth?   ~  Auxiliary Bishop John Dolan
Listen and reflect on the readings of this 23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time...

Here are a few ways to use your talents ~
  • MAMA'S KITCHEN
    • Sadly, we won't be able to collect food items this Thanksgiving for those in need. However, Mama’s Kitchen’s Home-Delivered Meal Service has expanded to provide medically tailored nutrition to individuals battling HIV, cancer, type 2 diabetes, congestive heart failure, and chronic kidney disease.
    • Please consider making a donation to help provide home-delivered meals to our critically ill neighbors.
    • Make checks out to Saint Luke with a notation that it's for Mama’s Kitchen. Place it in the Mass collection basket or mail to the parish office at 1980 Hillsdale Rd, El Cajon, CA 92019.
    • If you prefer to make an online one-time donation, go to our parish website at https://stlukeelcajon.weshareonline.org/ and click on Mama’s Kitchen Collection to make your donation.

  • THE GIVING TREE & ST. NICK'S CRAFT FAIR
    • These two annual parish traditions during the Advent season are on, well VIRTUALLY on. That's right! Look for the details just before Thanksgiving Day.
    • Note:  If you are interested in participating as a crafter for the Craft Fair on Sunday, December 6th, please contact Kay Krueger directly at ktgrams1@icloud.com
Now for a COVID-19 Update ~ The County of San Diego moved into the purple tier under the California governance framework.
  • MASS
    • We are suspending the 5:00 pm Saturday Mass for the time being. We will live-stream the 9:00 am Outdoor Sunday Mass (view on STL's YouTube page) and will continue the 11:30 am Outdoor Sunday Mass until we can return indoors. There is no need to make reservations.
    • In the event of inclement weathera special alert via Flocknote and a text message will be sent to your email addresses and mobile phones.
    • We are also suspending the Thursday 7:30 am Mass.
    • Our THANKSGIVING DAY Mass will be held OUTDOORS at 9:00 am. It will also be live-streamed for your participation at home. There is no need to make reservations.
  • CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS CHOIR
    • A message from Colin McColl and Sue Paul ~ Due to the latest COVID-19 restrictions, we regret that our Children's Christmas Choir and the Teen Assistants program will not happen this year. We will miss you very much but we look forward to being with you for Christmas 2021. Remember our special song and share it with your families -- "Happy Birthday Jesus!"
Please stay healthy and safe!

With a very grateful heart,

Jane

p.s. On a personal note, thank you for all your prayers, kind words, and loving support to me and my family over the loss of my sister, Judi Cruz Gamble. I so love my STL family!
