Dear STL Family,
I hope all of you bid farewell to October in a "Hallow" een way -- that is, "made holy" the eve of our November liturgical celebrations. Yes, All Saints' Day is a holy day of obligation, a time to remember all saints and martyrs throughout Christian history. Catholics are expected to attend Mass on All Saints' Day, and without judgment, I hope you and your family were able to participate. Tomorrow we celebrate All Souls' Day when we commemorate our loved ones who have died.
I came across these 7 Ways to Celebrate All Souls' Day.
-
Visit the final resting place of a loved one. ...
-
Take their favorite things to the grave. ...
-
Light a candle. ...
-
Create a memorial online. ...
-
Publish a tribute. ...
-
Set up a memorial at home. ...
-
Hold a remembrance lunch or dinner.
As a kid, I couldn't wait for celebrations. It was the church events that excited me the most. I was a happy Catholic little girl who appreciated having more holy/holidays than my non-catholic friends.
And like a kid, I've been looking forward to our FallFest this coming Saturday evening. Our STL family, our community of disciples, hasn't gathered like this for two years. We have over 230 of you who bought tickets, and I can't wait to hang with all of you. I'll dance to the live music band, but I won't ride the mechanical bull. I did get a peek at a few of our Silent Auction items. They're beautiful! We would appreciate a few more, though. So if you're inclined to build and donate a gift basket, please let me know by replying to this note or calling our office at 619/442-1697.
Another big celebration is the Wednesday, Nov.16th EMMAUS Community Assembly -- no charge! Just another social opportunity to grow our relationships and our faith. Come learn more about the 4 Levels of Happiness. I guarantee you'll experience a great meal, fun conversations, and spiritual insight.
Please mark your social calendars. It's not too late to join us and enjoy each other's company. With spirited anticipation, I'll see you at church!
With a very grateful heart,
Jane A.
